Extended Players @ Crooked Tongues Adidas party Bangkok

To help celebrate Adidas Originals 35th anniversary, Crooked Tongues / Unorthodox Styles hosted a special event in Bangkok featuring Harry Love, DJ MK & Mr Thing of the mighty Extended Players. Hosted by Mystro and with everyone in the building competing for adidas originality this party was every bit as crazy as it sounds. Nuf love to the Kung Fu kids Leo & Charlie who were on hand to help the party along in their usual fashion.

Props to the Jeed, Om, Nat, BJ Betts, Prer, Magic Muffin (best dj name of the century), James, Route 66 club, 808 club, Laemson Villas, Nung, Tac, Ming aka Nipapon... I kno I probably mis-spelled about %70 of the names above so my apologies, still got as much love for ya,,, and there's way more names to cover!

And let's hear a massive round of applause for the U-Dox/Crooked Tongues/Spine Magazine family with an extra big dollop of love to Uncle Russel & his bride to be.

There's not a lot of other actual information to give about this event because it was all about the tunes, the kicks and the venue which was a traditional Thai restaurant/amphitheatre by day.
What I would like to add is that Crooked Tongues will be opening their first physical store in... guess where?.....wait for it...... that's right Bangkok! All being well we should see the doors opening by Christmas, and you know what that means right...? wait for it.... yup you guessed it.. ANOTHER BIG PARTY! More kicks, more tunes, more drinks and more flashing flashing lights lights lights!!!

Once the gig and Adidas sponsored hospitality was over (and I do mean HOSPITALITY!), and once everybody had gone home to the UK, Leo & myself stayed on in Thailand for another month. We met some great people who deserve to be mentioned and saw some legendary sights that need to be shared,,,,, with you guys. So for this reason I will be doing a post all bout our trip (sorry I know it's not directly music related.... but fuck it, the phrase goes "Beats.. Rhymes... and LIFE right??!! I just need a little time to recall the order in which these life-changing events should be strung together.

Thailand we love you!

While a traditional Thai songs were being sung so aid the digestion of the diners at Galaxy restaurant/club, preparations were being made outside the venue. It was actually pretty hard to believe my eyes when I saw these dudes building a giant Adidas shoe box with our names on. I had Run Dmc looping im my head all week after that.

"Cover me... I'm going in...."

...okay things could start getting interesting....

The Basement Show BBC 1Xtra 12/06/05

DJ Harry Love %100 live on BBC 1Xtra's 'Basement Show'
Sunday 12th June 2005

Okay, well.. the first thing I want to say is BIGUP to my boy Abilio out in Brazil for diggin this 1 out and emailing it to me! The second thing I want to say is (DESPITE THE HORRIBLE JINGLES/AUDIO BLASTS) this is one of my favorite radio mixes I ever did, and I only ever had a cd of the second hour.
Taken from BBC 1xtra's The Basement radio show, the brief is kinda simple ; play whatever you want but only play records made before the year 2000... hmmm now that's my kinda thing. I didn't really plan this mix but I had just started to burn all my old classic records & breaks to cd, so I was having the time of my life cutting up 2 copies of my 45's of certain oldies on the cdj's.
Now as for those terrible jingles of some woman saying "Harry Love
drawing for the tunes" I didn't actually hear them while I was doing the mix because I generally had my headphones on the whole time - the producer (safe stew) was triggering the sound fx & jingles. I could only laugh and shudder when I heard that lady's voice but nevertheless I think the mix came out ok - especially after 3 hours sleep!

Part 1

Part 2

Stay tuned because Mr Thing & I will be
representing The Extended Player crew on 1Xtra's 'All Star Mix' directly after Semtex's show very very soon (ie. within the next month) ..... dates will be announced here and on my myspace page as soon as confirmed.

Badbonez In-store @ Rare Kind

Harry Love. Ramson Badbones. Instore. 29/02/08

Yes indeed, this one was a banger! Going on well past the scheduled 8.30 finish by 4 hours, mixtape mayhem was well and truely brought to the shop! The evening was kicked off in fine style by DJ Manipulate who brought a sick turntablism routine to the rarekind turntables. Next up after some technical problems, Zebra Traffic's Rup barnstormed the store with a heavy showcase of new album tracks and finished in style with the anthem "King Cnut". Next up launching their new mixtape "Welkum 2 da darksyde" Harry Love and Ramson Badbones (alongside D-Molish) tore through heat such as "f**k a 9 to 5" and "Takin' Medication" to rapturous applause.
Shout out to everyone that came and passed through the shop.

J Dilla Changed My Life

"The Money Shot" - Crowd, Shortee Blitz & Harry Love @ J DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE, FEB 10th 2008

BLITZ & H LOVE @ DILLA 2008

YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What can I say, I didn't know if people loved the late, great Jay Dee as much as I do... I'm happy to say they must do! Sunday Feb 10th 2008 marked the 2nd year anniversary of J Dilla aka Jay Dee aka James Yancey aka the late addition to A Tribe Called Quest aka 1 part of The Ummah aka 1/3 of Slum Village aka one of the strongest candidates for greatest of all time!

Last Year was the first official London celebration of Jay's life and works named "J Dilla Changed My Life" featuring Marc Mac, Benji B, Pete from BBE, DJ LoK, and my crew The Extended Players; Shortee Blitz, Mr Thing & my daaam self!.. and of course Spin Doctor who worked hard to promote this charity jam.
We all played for FREE, entry to the jam was FREE and voluntary contributions of £5 were made totaling approximately £3,500.... that's around $7000..... and I'm not sure if that even includes T Shirt sales!?!

The 2007 jam was crazy, packed full to the brim with people keen to express their love for the countless anthems J Dilla had put out by that time. The venue was pretty much full by 8.30 pm and we went on until midnight.
This year however.... I arrived super late (true to form) at 8.30.... now what I saw was a que that went from the door up to the end of the street!... this weren't no single file primary school que, this was a good 3-5 people wide monster que with a nicely balanced ratio male to female, young fresh faced to old school fools, hip hop to non hip hop heads! Now I'm thinkin maybe there's been some kinda hold up and the doors aint opened yet WRONG! I get in the door and the bar alone is already jammed like a tin of sardines... I get into the club area and it's the same again! So I'm guessing my people in the que probably didn't even make it in there!
DJ Lok was tearing through practically every break known to Dilla and the extra sick thing was that he had made it like a club set... and people were singing along to Dilla's BREAKS!???
Next up from 9 - 9.40pm was Spin Doctor rocking all well known and loved classics like Runnin, Let's Ride, Stakes Is High etc.
Finally at 9.40 Mr Thing kicks off the Extended Players set perfectly with the break for the slum village classic "Players" smoothly leading in the Slum track as Shortee shouts "what the name of this crew Extended..." "PLAAYYYYERRRRSSSSS"
Shortee was our MC for the night (how ironic is that!! haha ! the best DJ in the UK tearing down the MIC! dont underestimate this guy neither!!!)
For the next 2 1/2 hours Mr Thing and me aimed to fit as much of Jay's material spanning over 13 years into a condensed and fair representation of his influence and range WRONG! lol... It can't be done, but i do feel we came pretty close... now there are still bits we couldn't get in there and it doesnt mean we overlooked them, actually by the last 30 mins we could only manage a MAXIMUM of verse & chourus but even then some things could only play for 8 BARS! lol

This Wednesday night we are going to aid the comedown for everybody who made it and easy the pain for everyone who couldn't ...

Extended Players Dilla Tribute LIVE on Kiss - Chubby Kidz Show 9-11pm
Kiss 100 on your dial or www.totalkiss.com all ova yo screen BYATCH!

We will TRY to fit in more of the stuff that didnt make it on Sunday and also give a little taste of what went on that night.... and hopefully announce the official total amount raised for Lupus & The Dilla Foundation

THANKYOU JAY DEE!
