CLIPSE & KANYE "KINDA LIKE A BIG DEAL"

Man I know it ain't that new but I LOVE this tune more & more. Properly pushing the envelope, it's hip hop but then it's almost rock too. I could almost imagine The Coral (my favourite band) to have played the instruments on this. Very inspirational stuff, big props to DJ Khalil & Chin on this one... and of course mad love to my Clipse fam Malice, Pusha T & Ab-Liva (one of the greatest story-tellers of all time). Really really really really lookin forward to the new album "When The Casket Drops" coming soon on Re-Up Gang Entertainment/Columbia Records.

PRODUCER PROPS : VOHNBEATZ : THE FUTURE

THIS brought a tear to my eye. I could almost want to give up from seeing something like this but instead it has filled me with inspiration. There's not much I can say other than watch this guy take people's jobs..... without even wanting to.
There was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, there was Stevie Wonder(child), there was Michael Jackson and now we have Vohn Beatz. Can't wait for the album(s) Vohn, I'm a fan and I will be spending my hard-earned money on whatever this dude produces.

RAPHAEL SAADIQ & D'ANGELO "BE HERE" HARRY LOVE REMIX

The other month I did an impromptu remix of the song "Be Here" by Raphael Saadiq featuring D'Angelo. I think the original is a brilliant song and had no intentions of trying to better it but since I had the single with the acapella which inspires me so much (i can even listen to the acapella by itself) I thought I'd let my inspiration roam. I have already had a very pleasant surprise at the amount of positive feedback since posting it on twitter & facebook.

Whether or not you know the original version, I hope you enjoy my take on it. Please feel free to share this amongst ur friends and 'tweeples' and keep an eye out for more of my unofficial remixes!

Salut

H Love

SNATCH WARS (Star Wars vs. Snatch)

Well I'm back from my blog hiatus, yes I know failure to blog on a daily basis is kinda suicidal, but hey, at least you know when I post I got something to say or share!

Snatch Wars is the funniest shit I've seen all year. My good friend Dhiran was told to watch it by the actor himself, Alan Ford (who plays Brick Top in the Guy Richie movie Snatch). Following on from this I will be sharing my favourite 'shreds' videos. For those that don't know, 'SHREDS' is when somebody re-dubs the audio to a video. I can't tell wether "Snatch Wars" is a shred or the reverse of a shred? Either way around it's some funny shit and, in my opinion, a masterpiece.

"Now go and put the kettle on"

Props to the talented Brick Vada for this one

INNOCENT PASSER BY KILLED BY POLICE @ G20 SUMMIT, LONDON 2009

I had't even heard about this..

A man walking past the g20 summit with his hands in his pockets and his back to the police.
as he walks past, an 'officer' clubs him then pushes him over causing him to die from a fatal blow to the head.
The man appears dazed, then walks away only to die from his head injury 5 minutes along the road. You may not want to watch this if you are easily distressed, although as tax payers i believe we have a responsibility to know what our tax money is spent on.

NOT ONLY did the police commit this atrocity but they also lied and fabricated a story that they attempted to give first aid to the man but were unable because protesters were showering them with bottles. Here is a direct quote from the statement made by the police:
"The officers took the decision to move him as during this time a number of missiles - believed to be bottles - were being thrown at them,"
As you can see with your own eyes this is a simple LIE. It deeply troubles me to think this is footage of an innocent man's life being taken by a law enforcement officer whose wages are paid by my taxes.

Sadly we all know this is not the first or last time something like this will happen, so with that knowledge and this video evidence to really drive it home... what are WE going to do about it?

Shame on the metropolitan police
Deep condolences to the family

UK LEGENDS MYSTRO, JEHST, BADBONEZ, VERB T & SONNYJIM 30 MIN FREESTYLE OVER UNRELEASED HARRY LOVE BEATS!

What can I say, props to Sarah Love for arranging a heavy freestyle session with some of my favorite MC's and members of my extended family: Verb T, Mystro, Ramson Badbonez, Jehst and our brother from birmingham SonnyJim.

I hit Sarah off with a big stack of my beats that are unreleased & %100 exclusive so this is an official world premier!
This was broadcast live last night on 1xtra between 2-4am

I had some internet pussy report my blog one time for posting my Allstar Mix from 1Xtra before saying i had content which violates copywrite and the page was taken down. For this reason i aint bothered posting the whole show, just the part of the show with the guys freestyling on my instrumentals. You can find the whole thing on BBC iPlayer (somewhere) and it'll be up for the next 6 days so i suggest u go seek that out!

Here is the zshare link to download.... enjoy.

Funny Muh Hugguz #2 Bill Burr

Bill Burr

Chappelle Show - Samuel Jackson Beer sketch

Shouts to Geordie Suze for hookin me up with this in 2004 when she had just been on holiday to the states (Philly?). Bill Burr's "Emotionally Unavailable" is a recording of his signature stand-up routine, live on stage in Philladelphia The first time saw Bill Burr was on the Chappelle Show. He is funny on there but I hadnt really paid him that much attention because he didnt really have a chance to shine on there.
I must admit I had his cd sittin about in my studio for a good minute (ie. 2 or 3 years) ... my studio is like a cd scrapyard , there are hundreds of cd's with random bits of audio and this and that so it was a needle in a heystack of discs that needed to be listened thru... and that day came in 2007. Soon as i heard it i couldnt believe i'd had this gem sittin under my nose for a few years already! So i been snoopin around lookin for more stuff by bill , there are some bits but generally they consist of the same material. I'm listening to it right now and one of my many favorite bits has come on ... the "let go of my neck!" bit ... which u'll hear when u download whole the album I have posted below.

Here's the first track on the Emotionally Unavailable cd
"Local Reference/Crowd-Ass Kiss Pt. One"

Download the entire album "Emotionally Unavailable" HERE

As I
mentioned before , i had briefly had a look for other material by mr burr and only came up with a few bits. This is one of the bits i found, i haven't even watched it yet so don't blame me if it's shite, it's an interview for what i assume is a university/college tv station.... or a student project. Anyway here you go

Interview on a university student station in Texas

...
and here, Bill handles a heckling crowd like a gee. Sorry about the quality but its still funny

Just found this one too

Props to Bill Burr

Fuck Phonejacker ... Jerky Boys 4ever!

I almost hate myself for this ... but I hate phonejacker way more so I thoght I'd expose him as the ideajacker that he really is. I have to post up the first Jerky Boys album for download because they seem to be so unknown now that they're almost like an urban legend.
I grew up on this Jerky Boys shit. I even managed to get suspended from school.... for making prank calls at HOME!? The 2 main guys are Johnny B (Sol Rosenberg, Frank Rizzo, Jack Tors, Mike Deruki, Pico the mexican etc) and Kamal Ahmed (Tarbash, Kissel and others). There was also kinda like a missing Jerky Boy by the name of John Musacha. Musacha was definitely in the prank call elite and his appearances were very few and far between.... but worth the wait. Rumor has it that that he was just that bit too funny and was kinda squeezed out by Johnny & Kamal (i dunno how true that is or if Musacha was a slacker, who knows).
So Jerky Boys started by doing bootleg tapes.... then someone in the industry heard them (i think at MTV) and hooked them up with some victims. What sporned out of this was a string of MTV appearances and the occasional TV special. This lead them nicely into a record deal under which they produced 5 albums: The Jerky Boys 1, 2, 3, 4 and lastly "Stop Staring At Me" which was volume 5. In addition an album called 'The Jerky Tapes' was released in more recent years. I seem to remember the Musacha calls being on some of the CDs that VerbT used to bring back from America, and on the cassette version of 'Stop Staring At Me' but they definitely ain't on the version I have downloaded so I have posted a couple of those. If one of you guys find the actual Musacha tape hit me up! You can also hear Johnny B doing voices for the characters Mort Goldman & Horace the barman in the cartoon Family Guy.
John Musacha call sketches:
"Fanning My Balls"

"Mother Fuckin VCR" see where fonejacker got his inspiration for his vcr/dvd sketch?

As you can see there is a lot of material and its always been my mission to find it all so I garantee there will be more posts about the Jerky's and apparently they reformed in 2006 so hit me if u find anything new!!

...last time i saw this was in 1994/95..

And here are some ones from various albums that always entertain me

"Bad Tomatoes" Nicos from Nicos Deli - Jerky Boys 3

"Stop That" Tarbash The Egyptian Magician - Jerky Boys 3

"TV Repair" Kissel & Pico - Jerky Boys 3

"I Pickle They" Jack TorS - Stop Staring at Me!
(a rare example where the person being called is funnier than the called)

The Jerky Boys - Vol. 1 (1993)
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/26/426861/Jerky%20Boys%201.zip
Favorite tracks "Laser Surgery", "Egyptian Magician", "Super Across The Way"

The Jerky Boys - Vol. 2 (1994)
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/26/426861/Jerky%20Boys%202.zip
Favorite tracks "Pablo Honey", "Roofing", "Sol's Warts" "Pet Cobra", & "Pico's Mexican Hairpiece"
...... and PS.... DO NOT BE FOOLED BY IMITATIORS! There are a lot of fake Jerkys out there on youtube and the torrent sites. The 'you kicked my dog' by Aptar is an imitation, he was never in the jerky boys but obviously loved them. There are a lot of other very unfunny ones that demonstrate perfectly the kind of wit, humor, creativity and originality that set the Jerky Boys aside from your average jackass with a phone.

NEW BADBONEZ EXCLUSIVE DUBPLATE!

To kick off the new free weekly Badbonez download section I'm gonna hit you off with a new & exclusive dubplate/freestlye or whatever you want to call it! Featuring Ramson Badbonez & D-Mollish both members of the legendary Task Force crew
Original beat produced by my good friend J-Zone from his 2001 single "Metro Card Millionaires"

"Back To Front" featuring D-Mollish

Aftermath producer Focus paying homage to Dilla, Pete Rock & Premier

As you may or may not know Focus is on his way to being what's called a super-producer.... only thing is you probably weren't fully aware of what he's done... and neither am I. But every time I see his name attached to something its NICE. Focus is one of the producers in the Dre/Aftermath stables.

Aftermath Records blog have very recently leaked 3 tracks which are all in homage to deserving candidates (and personal heroes of my own too)... DJ Premier, Pete Rock and the late great Dilla aka Jay Dee.

What's also interesting is that the man Focus can spit and hold his own alongside some very accomplished MC's.

1. "Homage to DJ Premier" featuring Stat Quo, Royce da 5′9 and Phonte

2. "Homage to Pete Rock" featuring Kurupt, Rapper Big Pooh and Sha Stimuli

3. "Homage to Dilla" featuring Slum Village, Frank Nitti and Illa J

Here is some footage of Focus in the studio, although I think after a while he takes the embellishment a little too far I do really like what he does here. It also shows that he aint one of those 'tell the engineer to...' producers and he aint just sittin on an mpc triggering loops neither..... this is what hip hop beat-making is about...
Bigup to Focus.

In future I will be paying homage to my favorite producers here by posting videos, tracks and interviews of interest to me.... i hope you are as interested.

THE BLITZ BLEND: J DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE PART 3

*Taken from Shortee Blitz's blog*
"THE BLITZ BLEND: J DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE PART 3

My dude Emil Socialize captured the celebration of all things Dilla at Cargo in London.
We managed to raise over £3000 from donations and probably more from T-Shirt and Vinyl sales, which go to Ma Dukes and Lupus UK.
Big up to Spin Dr for putting on another classic night...
Shout to the Dj's Marc Mac, Morgan Spacek, Rags, Lok, Kyza, Spin Dr, Harry Love and myself of course....
TURN IT UP!!!!!"

- Shortee Blitz

PULL UP / CATCH UP

I wanted to let this bubble in the analog world for a bit before really getting into the heavy online promo but now its time to blow the horn on the new night I am involved in as a resident DJ (alongside Jet Letts son of the legendary Don Letts).

PULL UP #1 : Friday Oct 24th 2008 @ The Paradise
Pull Up was launched last October at The Paradise in Kensal Rise. The first night also doubled as my birthday party and was a great success. My good friends Adriano & Tracks and myself were in agreement, west london is in a severe shortage of decent nights to go to especially on the weekend (shouts to YoYo for carrying the torch for all this time)... something had to be done. Jet Letts brought the grimey Dubstep & Old Skool Garage and I covered the Hip Hop/R&B/Disco/Funk/Soul/Rare Groove/Breaks and even Pop/House/Hip House/Electro/AfroBeat etc it didn't matter as long as the people were all on the same page and partied with us.
We were joined last minute by our savior and supa mc Kyza Smirnoff to host the night and keep everyone entertained which is exactly what happened. Our live P.A. performance from De Tropix broke up the night nicely and had the people sweatin even harder.
That night we jammed out the 650 capacity venue and made The Paradise as much money on the bar as they had at their Carnival party... and this was a regular weekend of the month!

PULL UP #2 : Boxing Day Dec 26th 2008 @ The Paradise
The 2nd event fell on Boxing Day (26th of December to all non-brits) and again was a smasher party... the turn-out was beautiful and despite all the turkey, booze, mince pies and chocolates everybody still had the energy to go come out, crazy and sing along to the tunez. Live P.A. that night was from our host m.c. Kyza Smirnoff who killed em with his track his Roots Manuva produced Judgement Day (which you can hear in the music player to the right>>>).
Even my old man made it out and danced to the music. Shouts to my old skool crew(s) & West London familia who turned out in full force!

PULL UP #3 : Feb 27th @ The Westbury
was on Friday 27th Feb and this time at The Westbury and was lady Tracks' birthday celebration... again we filled packed, shocked, macked & rocked the house! No P.A.'s this time just strictly floor filling party tunes all night from Jet Letts & yours truly.

Shouts to Amo the artsman for the sick conceptual flyer artwork too!!!!!! Keep your eyes peeled for Amo's range of T-shirts & accessories on the COLOURMAN clothing line who also produce clothing for Ramson Badbonez, Medication Records and are in collaboration with Ask Your Girl this year to produce some special gear ... big things for all names mentioned above in 2009

All in all things are moving in the right direction and London is on the come-up... don't listen to what they tell you about the economy , we all just becoming self-sufficient now... time to PULL UP our socks and keep steppin.

PULL UP #4 : March 13th @ The Cobden Club
Next Pull Up : March 13th 2009 @ The Cobden Club, Kensal Road. Closest tubes Westbourne Park/Ladbroke Grove/Kensal Green.

Here is a link to an assortment of photos from each of the different nights... more pix to come!!!

As the place to be for underground Hip-Hop from both sides of the pond The Doctor’s Orders has become the not to miss event of the month and for March we are bringing things back home with a UK Kings special featuring the very best talent our home shores have to offer in one room dedicated to Hip-Hop and one to Dubstep. With live performances and DJ sets from a wealth of home grown talent this is sure to be another Kingsland Road block.

Skinnyman is the most naturally gifted MC to have ever come out of the UK and will follow the likes of Frank & Dank, Sadat X, Louis Logic, Jehst & more onto The Doctor’s Orders stage. With incisive lyrics that are equally political as they are witty Skinnyman lays waste to any audience he comes into contact with and this will be no exception. The freestyle don has promised brand new unheard material ready to perform for the first time so this is sure to be another energetic live show the likes of which only the Mud Fam can put down.

As ever a highlight of room 1’s line up will be Spin Doctor’s set that as ever will explore all aspects of Hip-Hop mixed in the party fashion of which he is the master. Joining him on the decks is one of the UK’s most prolific and respected producers Harry Love. Having first met Spin Doctor when he was standing on a box to reach the decks at a West London house party Harry has perfected both DJ and studio styles that have seen him rock shows around the world and produce bangers for every UK MC worth mentioning. His club sets are an exciting mix of the new and old beats mixed to perfection that will leave the fun loving regulars begging for more!

Chris Read kicked off his career in Hip-Hop by promoting his Substance night in Birmingham for 12 years. Since moving to London he was one of the first DJs on the then brand new 1xtra and more recently has made waves with his incredible “The Diary” mixtapes. Tonight we celebrate the release of Vol 1.5 of this incredible series of mixes that trace Hip-Hop through a chronological mix of tracks that have fans including mixtape master DJ Yoda, The Herbaliser, Andy Smith & more. These mixes have to be heard to be believed so do not miss this chance of a sneak preview.

At The Doctor’s Orders we always aim to provide a suitable alternative to the Hip-Hop in room one with a selection of DJs and music that is sure to appeal to our regulars as well as bring new heads to London’s No.1 Hip-Hop party. Having had night dedicated to Reggae, Disco, original breaks & Jungle tonight we have a Dubstep dream team. The Foreign Beggars are adept at mastering all aspects of their trade. Having started producing and performing straight Hip-Hop they have successfully moved onto grime and are now making huge waves in Dubstep scene. DJ Nonames & MC Orifice Vulgatron will be treating us to one of these sets that have seen them establish such a following. They will be joined by the Patchwork Pirates who, although best know for their dedication to Hip-Hop and bass, will be digging deep into their Dubstep crates for this exclusive set. Holding the whole thing together upstairs is DJ Odin an unsung hero of the scene that will be taking no prisoners as he has ‘em swinging from the rafters! Having played at clubs and festivals up and down the country supporting the great and the good of the UK scene he is now readying himself to enter the 2010 DMC championships so battle DJs get ready!

ASHER ROTH FREESTYLE ON ROOTS MANUVA BEAT

SICK
For starters NO1 ELSE has this beat apart from Roots Manuva, DJ MK, Kyza and maybe 1 or 2 others.... Kyza already SHITTED on this beat from a height.... now add an exclusive Asher Roth freestyle over the entire length of beat and there you have a classic little moment.
And thats what the Extended Players are known for!

I AM GOIN TO KILL THE FUCKRY OUT THERE

Since it'd only be a matter of time before people find out what the original sample was i thought I'd show you

WHEN A PIG EATS A BROWNIE

Guilty Sipson over Harry Love beat

First beat playing is one of my instrumentals from a forthcoming project... but I might have to think about hitting up Guilty for a verse or 2... what do u think? Funny coinsidence that he mentioned Malice from the Clipse cos thats my co-dee. Bigup Guilty for a heavy album too, u can hear one of the Wajeed produced tracks in the music player to the right. I'm really feelin the Mr. Porter "Robbery" track too.

Junior Spesh

I know its old school and almost everyone in the world has seen it (well only 350,000 views in all which i thought would be higher but its hard to believe some people haven't). Anyway I'm just deciding to promote more views for these guys because i think they deserve it... its a classic, funny, well written, delivery's sick, beat's heavy, and it is blatantly the sort of thing you'd come up with if you were hungry, walking home from school and still had a little £1.50 in your pocket.
It's be ironic if they got rich off of a song about poor man food, and i'd be happy if they did turn this little classic piece of work into money.... so keep clicking and these kids might end up with that advertizing money so we can look forward to that wack corporate re-make of this video for KFC

Marvin Gaye interview

good interview, i'd never seed this one before and it must have been very close to the end of his life.
its also interesting because its almost as if the interviewer is speaking to his ghost now after his death, the tone in their voices, marvin's temperament and the kinda nature of the 1 word questions. its like marvins looked over his life and made his conclusions and his peace with everything. whatever it is, it has reminded me there are some really good documentaries about marvin i need to watch again its been a while so when i remember the actual names and find them online i will post them here. enjoy

My first trivial blog ... 50 cent interview

Right this is the day where i start actually blogging stuff other than my own crew's material, thats what blogging generally is to everyone else now and there's too many issues that need to be discussed nowadays. And also I've realized that all those videos that i favourite on youtube I should be posting on here (basically I've just learned 'how to blog').

So my first blog about the outside world has been inspired by 50 cent & angie martinez interview. Its not even that controversial but its very interesting to me.
I think 50 is such a joker and i admire the way he uses the whole world as a big fun game of chess. That's all it is to him, he's just testing out his theories that he could make just about anything happen as long as he's prepared to be ruthless and play the game right to the very end. This interview is so revealing about his strategies, mentality, attitude & intentions. I think he's pretty much the funniest character in hip hop (along side not on top of ODB, Snoop, Biz etc but i'm sayin) for being such a obnoxious menace, to be so successful despite the fact that he's always pissed everyone off then they secretly love him for it and maybe feel a little bit honored that he's even challenging them in the first place. People front on curtis but i think everyone would miss him if he wasnt around no more. He makes something entertaining out of that dull stream of generic mush you hear dribbling out everyone's radios and tvs.
And by the way yea if it was my mum that got stalked i might want to murder him BUT (a) i would always have the sense to know that challenging 50 head on is not a wise move and (b) it's obviously a joke because if anything nasty was really ever planned a smart person wouldn't film the victim and put them on youtube first' Its just supposed to be entertaining and evoke responses, and that it certainly does haha

This night was a pretty huge success, the third annual Dilla fundraiser at Cargo, London on Feb 15th 2009.
Over £3,500 raised for the Dilla Foundation & Lupus UK , venue was completely jammed and the dj lineup was even more chokka this year. I only recently found out that people have flown in from countries like Canada, Japan, Germany, around the world to be at this event!

This time we were minus a certain DJ (Mr Thing) as he was stuck in another country that evening.... poor dude was totally gutted so Thing if ur reading.... you might not want to see the photos.

More photos to come from my camera too!!!

New DJ MK Mixtape "Vol. 17 : London Go Hard" OUT NOW!!

Time to bigup my man my mello , the UK's mixtape King , Kiss fm's Hip Hop Show host and fellow Extended Player... d-d-d-d-DJ MK!
originally he gained a high status across the world as a mixtape dj, mixtape importer & distributor and authority on rare mixtapes. Now after roughly a 5 year hiatus DJ MK has finally made the decision to resume his classic mixtape series and true to form is totally up to date both with track list and mix technique, keeping the perfect balance between skills & selection. For those that may be familiar with any of the earlier editions in his mixtape series will know that DJ MK has always been about the hottest, rarest, newest and most exclusive hip hop... Back in the analog days of cassette & vinyl exclusive songs super rare promo only pressings, dubplates, exclusive freestyles ... and the trademark bigtime artist drops/jingles/idents (eg. real quote "this is big boom busta rhymes chillin with your man dj mk"). These days it would be hard to imagine anything staying exclusive or hot for longer than a week what with blogs, zshare, torrents & alike.... but he dun did it again. since his last volume, MK has smashed world tours with Roots Manuva, Dizzee Rascal & Extended Players, has had a top rating Hip Hop show on Kiss Fm since 2004 and launched his popular night Gullyver with A-Cyde.
The credentials stretch way back for MK, I grew up on his tapes and guest radio mixes back when i was gettin into dj'in as a young'n. Its exciting to know that it is possible to bring back a classic formula when updated in the right way!
this is a welcome return at a perfect time to educate the younger online crowd who may have not been fortunate to have experienced the original record shop culture & days of exchanging highly coveted cassettes.
this also makes the return so sweet because unlike all the previous volumes which were for sale and relatively tricky to track down for some.... this is available online to download FREE.

download, hit him up & comment,,, and in the meantime i'm gona stay hassling him to eventually post all the original volumes (1-16) along with some other classic mixes
